UNDONE reveals three Urban Vintage Killy models Including The Designer’s Draft Edition A Limited Release Timepiece

In the territory of Hong Kong, UNDONE was launched in 2014 by three men who were known as the watch industry veterans. The company motto was to produce a watch that would be one-off and simultaneously was a personal expression of the owner. The core idea of the company attracted their customers to personally choose almost every part of the watch by themselves. The method adopted was to ensure that whenever a customer buys a UNDONE watch they will have a solely unique timepiece. Now the UNDONE has six watch ranges to suit different watch enthusiasts.

Later in 2017, UNDONE launched a new watch range named Urban Chronograph and the first product by the range was Vintage Killy. The UNDONE watch company motivated new methods in the watch industry and for that it escalated to prominence. The company had a rich catalogue of models to offer but till now the Vintage Killy is the most desirable entry-level timepiece. The price tagged to the model is for around Rs. 42K. The vintage design inspired model was a thought of UNDONE co-founder Michael Young.

Soon after the launch of Urban Vintage Killy model the UNDONE has added more models to the range. The prominent linked addition is the women’s range, UNDONE Urban34 Killy. The latest addition to the UNDONE Vintage Killy is the limited release “The Designer’s Draft Edition”. This timepiece has its own philosophy to appear aged as a true vintage. The name of the model “The Designer’s Draft Edition” is also true to its core as the UNDONE co-founder Michael Young, a lead watchmaker, has hand-patinated each timepiece under the limited-release.

Revealing its other uniqueness is that the Vintage Killy: The Designer’s Draft Edition has been paired with a really vintage, 150 years old Japanese Katazome (blue and white) fabric. The blue finish on the clock-hands compliments the blue and white vintage fabric wristband.

In comparison to the original Vintage Killy with the latest Vintage Killy- The Designer’s Draft Edition it expresses two different personas under the same watch range. The UNDONE co-founder, Michael Young stated that, The Designer’s Draft Edition was idealised for a limited number of true watch collectors, but later on the UNDONE team pushed the number to form a proper limited edition model.

The latest Vintage Killy-The Designer’s Draft Edition has a reasonable 40mm wide dial case with classic steel polished, truly inspired by the mid-20th century sports watches. The latest timepiece happens to be a rich blend of classic and modern design elements combined with a trendy aesthetic. It has proven to be a hit with many watch enthusiasts and crowned their wrists with uniqueness. The UNDONE Vintage Killy range seems to continue its life for a long time as the dedication of Michael Young can be seen. The Vintage Killy- The Designer’s Draft Edition is limited to only 150 pieces as the limited-release with a retail price of about Rs. 61K.

Michael Young expressed, “Our Killy is now really becoming our iconic look for the brand. This particular launch is not so much a commercial launch of a new product, but rather a special version of a brand classic. I have been asked so many times, either by friends or simply by customers and partners, “What are you wearing today, or what’s your favourite UNDONE watch?” The Designer’s Draft Edition represents that: a Vintage Killy made for me.  What we are launching here really is the version of the Killy that I tweaked with the standard version, and has been a regular daily wear”.

He further added, “As many in the watch community may know, I collect a lot of vintage watches, and one thing very important to me is the patina on the watch dial.  Some may say that the standard Killy is already a creamy-coloured dial that resembles the vintage chronographs of the ’60s.  But honestly, that’s not enough for me, and that’s why I laid my hands on the dial to further age the color with uneven patina to really make it look “authentic.”  In my other vintage watch repair business, a lot of Rolex owners send me their dials to be patinated, and I have applied the same technique to this dial”.

Hublot Launches Another Shepard Fairey Fusion Limited Edition Chronograph

Hublot has been promoting its image with “Hublot Loves Art” and it has been successfully hit the high-note in its each collaborative timepiece addition. Hublot is a luxury Swiss watch brand that might be unheard to anyone. It is a must have timepiece for every true watch enthusiast. For a while now, Hublot has been upholding its image as a special place for street artists and their art in any category.

The art-loving campaign has gained momentum which has propelled Hublot to launch few art-themed timepieces. The latest collaboration again happened to be between the famous street artist Shepard Fairey and Hublot. The famous American artist is admired as a painter and as a skateboarder who also happens to be the founder and owner of OBEY Clothing company.

The intriguing bold mandala theme was designed by Shepard Fairey, expressing the natural life cycle and the harmony between different cultures.

The classic mandala design has appeared across many civilizations in the past. The unique design is considered to represent cosmos metaphysically or symbolically. In other means it also means to represent the time-microcosm of the universe. So all the senses of depiction of universe, time and life is a perfect theme to describe life and its cultural complexities living in accord.

The second collaborative base watch chosen by Hublot and Shepard Fairey is from the Classic Fusion series, a chronograph model with a 45mm dial. The artwork on the timepiece initiates with a brushed and engraved, broad titanium case. The little touch of asymmetric engraving on the upper and lower facets of the case is discreet but unavoidable. The upper lugs carry a sun-rays pattern opening outwards, while the lower lugs are kept plain. The stripped rubber wristband truly compliments the upper sun-rays pattern on the case. The black stainless steel deployment buckle also has a brushed finish.

The extensive artwork of the theme appears on the dial base. The dial is carefully skeletonised within the mandala style to reveal the outstanding self-winding chronograph calibre underneath it. The centre of the clock hands is overlapped by Fairey’s obvious “Star Gear” signature. The classic fusion faceted clock hands and indices enhance the complicated design theme up to an exceptional level. The track-time around the dial and sub-dial hand are finished in red to further energise the design.

Fairey has been expressing his delight over the expertise delivered by the professional artisans in Hublot. The watchmaker in the Hublot has been dedicated to deliver the complete expression of the artist through the watch and it’s every millimetre.

Fairey further added, “Hublot’s watchmakers and engineers are true masters in their field, enabling me to go further in expressing my inspiration and pushing the limits imposed by the materials and technology. I must say, I am very impressed with the final result of this second timepiece that I have created in collaboration with Hublot. I wanted to integrate the art of the mandala into the piece as, for me, this evokes the connection between the inner self and the outer world. A powerful concept to consider when looking at a watch and thinking about time.”

The CEO, Ricardo Guadalupe of Hublot stated his expression as, “With his roots in street art – a type of expression which is essentially a form of protest – Shepard Fairey is truly shaking up the art world; his works make us think. This is an inspiring approach that is also in line with the brand’s “Hublot Loves Art” program. For this second watchmaking work of art, the artist wanted to immerse himself fully in the technical aspects made possible by the expertise of our brand, to produce a piece with a striking visual impact, where the ornamental elements communicated with the heart and mind, allowing each individual to freely interpret this message.”

The Shepard Fairey Fusion Chronograph will be produced in limited numbers with only examples. The Hublot Classic Fusion Chronograph Shepard Fairey watch has a hefty price to suit its limited edition class.

With reference to New Era’s 100th anniversary the Casio has added various custom touches to the watch that carry subtle touches of its baseball head-gear with masculine colour theme.
The Casio G-SHOCK GM110NE-1A is similar but a superior variant of its GA110 series, upgraded with a forged metal bezel. The GM110NE-1A has a 51.9mm case size same as GA110 profiling with a IP treated metal bezel with golden markings engraved in the it. Continuing with the golden theme, the capped lugs also carry a “1920-2020” lettering to denote the 100th anniversary of New Era Cap Company. Casio G-SHOCK Adds G-STEEL GSTB100GC-1A To The Range

The Casio G-SHOCK is widely known for offering practical functional watches for almost every taste and budget. With all the budget focused models, the luxurious models and the limited edition models share the same authentic and uncompromised G-SHOCK theme that is ruggedness and practicality in all conditions. Anyone who has once experienced any G-SHOCK model, admires and desires to own another timepiece from the range. The G-SHOCK price range varies, starting from Rs. 15Kto well above Rs. 100K. The price variation covers from simple digital timepieces to peak exclusively hand-crafted limited edition models.

The G-STEEL range is comfortably place under the MT-G and MR-G the flagship series in the G-SHOCK range. The G-Steel already has plenty of attractive and rugged models under its belt but the new G-SHOCK GSTB100GC-1A is another unique addition with a touch of luxury and within a reasonable price tag.
The G-STEEL series in the G-SHOCK range has been out of the limelight for the past few years, but with a couple of latest additions the G-STEEL is gearing it up. The G-SHOCK G-STEEL has created new models with updated colour themes and modern design aesthetics to energise the model series. The model G-STEEL GSTB100GC-1A is designed in a new colour theme with gold accents on black finished base.

Casio’s recent design method includes adding a huge dial to the watch. On the best of all, almost every watch with an enormous dial is full on loaded with features that justify its size even though it might feel a bit hefty on the wrist. This model has a significant 53.8mm stainless steel case with immaculate black ion plating. The casing design queue is symmetric to many other expensive models with octagonal styling. The angular multi-faceted appearance is dominated by the strong one piece bezel with contrasting screws. The crown is also guarded with monolithic extensions around it.

The G-SHOCK has highlighted the looks with yellow-gold ion-plated accents. The same colour punch continues on bezel screws, lug screws, crown, pushers and case back. The black and gold colour scheme makes the watch discrete in size even with a huge case and it positively makes a modernised masculine appearance. The G-SHOCK G-STEEL GSTB100GC-1A is comfortably water resistant up to 200 meters with an almost bullet proof shock protection.

The enormous dial of the Casio G-SHOCK G-STEEL GSTB100GC-1A has a full analogue dial as the GSTB100 series carries it but with a subtly attractive colour scheme it becomes unique. The new colour idea pops out at the GSTB100’s sub-dial placed at 9 o’clock. The propeller-like sub-dial gives an intricate feel to the black finished dial base. The overall dial design of the G-STEEL GSTB100GC-1A is illusorily simple with complexity of textured and multi-panelled main dial surface. The dial conceals Casio G-SHOCK’s Tough Solar quartz movement. The three sub-dial facets houses a list of features including a 24-hrs chronograph, a 24-hrs countdown timer, world time, perpetual calendar and daily alarm.

The Casio G-SHOCK has powered the new timepiece with their in-house produced Module 5513 quartz movement. In addition to the solar charging and other mechanical complexities the Module 5513 also has Bluetooth connectivity with mobile. The wireless connectivity allows the user to comfortably access the watch features and get optimal use out the timepiece. The robust module also has staggering power reserve ability of up to two years after a full charge. The enormous case of the GSTB100GC-1A is complimented with a textured black resin strap. The G-SHOCK range has been using resin straps abundantly on its various timepieces. In this case the heavily textured black resin strap adds a lux feel to the watch with its matte finish. To add on the lux feel the tang buckle is ion-plated in yellow-gold and the keeper carries company signature.

The Casio G-SHOCK has done a great job with GSTB100GC-1A, by combining the steel case and wireless connectivity with long array functions in such an affordable price range is miraculous. The price of the new model is around Rs. 65K.

Casio Unveiled Limited Edition G-SHOCK MR-G Kachi-Iro Collection

Casio G-SHOCK is undoubtedly the champion of shock-proof rugged watches with pure practicality. But for a long time now the G-SHOCK range has also focused on aesthetic beauty. In the pursuit G-SHOCK has released several unique, co-branded and limited edition models.
Recently the Casio G-SHOCK has revealed it’s another Limited Edition model in their MR-G series as the Kachi-Iro Collection. The luxurious MR-G is the flagship series in the G-SHOCK range followed by another classy MT-G series.

The MR-G series is more focused towards luxury and class, however the G-SHOCK has also combined its best of the best technological innovations into these models. Casio has used its best quartz module coupled with state of the art connectivity technology it has under its sleeve, cherry on the top is its Japanese culture inspired design language with fantabulous finish.
For the latest MR-G model the inspiration is taken from the Kachi-Iro , a colour dedicated to success for centuries within the Japanese culture. For this the traditional samurai armour was coloured in Kachi-Iro. It is the dark navy-blue colour that can be easily seen dominating the latest MR-G models. Yet only models have been launched as the limited edition, MR-G MRGB2000B-1A (yellow-gold accents) and MR-G MRGB2000R-1A (rose-gold accents). All the models are finished in traditional colour and combination of unique materials, range of finishing with unparalleled functionality and ruggedness.

The limited edition G-SHOCK MR-G MRGB2000B-1A and MR-G MRGB2000R-1A, both have a prominent and beefy constructed angular shaped case. The case is actually taken from the MRGB2000 series model, with a black DLC-coated titanium base and a deep-layer hardening process.

The dial case measures at 49.8mm in width and 16.9mm in thickness, it will be a dominating timepiece on the wrist. With all the beefy size you can definitely flaunt with its luxurious appearance and loads of features. The positive aspect is that the dark finish of dial and integrated lugs make it easily wearable.
Both models are built on the same design pattern but the finishing touches vary on each. The MR-G MRGB2000B-1A is garnished with the perks of yellow-gold DLC finish on hour markers, crown, 4 o’clock pusher and bezel screws contrasting with dark blue Kachi-Iro. While the MR-G MRGB2000R-1A is garnished with perks of rose-gold DLC in the same pattern and in addition the bezel has gone through a unique heat treated in recrystallised titanium. Like other G-SHOCK models these two models have the same strong 200 meters water resistance.

Same as the cases, both models also carry an immensely detailed dial, though it has a black colour but the two patterns have a deep root attached with Japanese culture. The centre of the dial has an alternating triangular pattern known as “uroko” which means fish scales, that has significance in Japanese art. The outer brim of the dial has a Japanese folding fan inspired pattern that also creates a track time marking. The ribbed indices also have an artistic expression that imitates the curve of Katana. The sub-dials, seconds-hand and company signature at 12 o’clock are dressed in traditional Kachi-Iro motif.

Casio has used its state of the art 5652 quartz movement in both MR-G MRGB2000B-1A and MR-G MRGB2000R-1A limited edition models. The “tough movement” as labelled by Casio, offers a wide range of complications. The quartz movement has Casio’ Tough Solar charging technology, radio controlled time-sync (six times a day), second time zone, 24-hrs chronograph, 24-hrs countdown timer, daily alarm and a perpetual calendar. The MR-G model has Bluetooth connectivity to a mobile application through which you can adjust and control almost every function in the watch. The 5652 quartz movement has a power reserve for about 26 months after a full charge.

The wristbands on both limited edition models also have their own uniqueness. The MR-G MRGB2000B-1A has a black DLC coated titanium bracelet in integrated links. For the MR-G MRGB2000R-1A has been offered with a black fluoride rubber strap. The rubber strap is also a piece of art with again Japanese samurai pattern influenced from iconic “Bishamon” which is a tortoise shell formation.

Both limited edition models are a display of traditional Japanese culture with a modernised touch combined with high-end Casio quartz movement. The price for both models is close to Rs. 63K which is a quite reasonable price in consideration to the quality and feature it offers.

Citizen Promaster ECO-Drive GPS Satellite

Citizen is an eminent brand for introducing ground-breaking technologies combined in their watches. Particularly the Promaster series, launched in 1989 has been the flag carrier for exhibiting new techs from Citizen. The Promaster series is a diver’s committed range that has watches water resistant from 200-meters up to 1000-meters

Newly Citizen has yet again stridden up the game with their new model of Promaster. The latest model is called Promaster ECO-Drive Satellite Wave GPS Diver with 200meter water resistance.
Further diving into the extral design details the huge case is fitted with a machined unidirectional bezel that has engraved tachymeter markings on it. The case also has a wide set of lugs that holds a rubber strap. All the beefy case structure provides a good water resisting capability for 200-meters.

The Citizen Promaster ECO-Drive Satellite Wave GPS diver watch is a retake over the traditional divers watch from a new perspective. You not only experience a high-drive of technology but also see a strong appealing design and minute details that overall enhance the appearance to the next level.

The most interesting feature with respect to satellite connectivity is that world-time. The watch is designed to automatically re-adjust the time through satellite whenever the time zone is changed. The wearer does not have to worry about readjusting time wherever the watch is taken. For this the inner rehaut of the dial is marked with several cities and the world famous eight diving sites are highlighted. The indices and the skeletonised clock-hands are luminous for better viewing in darker places.

The most hyped and latest feature is the Satellite GPS timekeeping feature. As earlier discussed, whenever the time zone changes the watch re-adjusts its time through the satellite link further on the watch also sends signals to maintain the time accuracy. There is also a dive-mode indicator that when activated pauses all the functions of the watch except the timekeeping. All these complex functions are possible due to the Cal. 158 Quartz Movement powering the Citizen Promaster ECO-Drive Satellite Wave GPS. Without the satellite time correction the time accuracy is within 5-second a month.

This is the first ever Citizen’s timepiece that combines the ECO-Drive technology with the satellite GPS timekeeping feature. As the regular viewers know ECO-Drive movement harnesses energy from natural or artificial light sources to power the movement. Once fully charged the power reserve is up to seven years. The solar-power movement virtually eliminates the need of changing batteries. The rechargeable battery has a long-life with long power reserves. Though it is basically a quartz movement but with ECO-Drive technology you will forget the battery changing hassle.

The watch is paired with a urethane rubber strap with a texture finish on it. It may not be the most appealing divers’ watch on block but it is definitely the most functional and practical watch for a true enthusiastic diver.

KITH and G-SHOCK Collaborate Again for New GM-6900 Rainbow

Casio is famous for going into collaboration with other brands under their G-SHOCK and Edifice ranges to create one off styled timepieces that attract fans of both brands. Let alone G-SHOCK has released numerous co-branded timepieces that have been nailing it in design and temptation.

The latest collaboration is done with KITH the renowned downtown New York retailer that has significance for having rear sneakers and apparels. KITH is also famous for its collaboration with other major brands for introducing unique items. This time KITH and Casio G-SHOCK have come up with a third new co-branded timepiece, this time in Rainbow under the GM-6900 series.
The KITH’s founder, Ronnie Fieg came to New York in ‘90s, so that era has always been a prominent influence to him. So this new collaboration is no exception, because the most ’90 profiled Casio G-SHOCK 6900 series has been opted for it. The collaboration is well-timed as the GM-6900 series completed its 25 years run last year.
Till now it’s the third time that KITH has gathered up with G-SHOCK to release a 6900 series timepiece with some unique touches. The first ever collaboration timepiece was introduced with white resin case and rose-gold coloured accents, as a backlit dial button and protection bars over the case. Further the KITH and G-SHOCK offered a full rose-gold colour finished case in 6900 series that was more of a luxury fashion statement.

This time the GM-6900 has retained its forged metal bezel but with a dash of unique colour choice. The KITH has opted to go for an iridescent rainbow finish on their G-SHOCK GM-6900. The colour choice is unique and vogue. Acquiring this unique colour is not an easy task. The casing is treated with an extensive sampling method to achieve this unique iridescent finish.
The end result is pretty jaw-dropping and amazes anyone who sees the watch for the first time. It creates a sudden strong impact on the viewer and yet retains its classic 6900 silhouette. The watch is immediately recognisable as the GM-6900 series. Just to comprehend the flexible design language of GM-6900, if the G-SHOCK by John Mayer is compared to KITH’s Rainbow model, both are worlds apart but significantly true to its design and legibility.

If you have been following news and updates in the world of luxury watches then you can understand the attention a Rainbow finished luxury watch gathers up. Several Swiss luxury watch brands have introduced their piece of rainbow finished watches but every other new addition seems to be better than others. Among the true watch enthusiasts the most admired and valued rainbow watch is Rolex “Rainbow” Daytona. The double take by Rolex at rainbow timepiece was done in 2019 with multi-colour gemmed bezel Day-Date 36 Ref. 128345RBR. Few other names that offered rainbow finished timepieces were Breitling, Parmigiani Fleurier, Jacob & Co., Hublot, Roger Dubuis and Zenith.
In fact this is not the first rainbow coloured G-SHOCK timepiece by Casio, but it definitely is the first GM-6900 series watch with an exclusive iridescent finish. The rainbow finish literally looks like a tie-dye job, setting this GM-6900 model prominent in the rainbow finished watches.

Again there is another momentous occasion when KITH chose to go in collaboration with Casio G-SHOCK to introduce its GM-6900 model. The KITH apparel label is going to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2021. The NY apparel is already in the limelight due to its inauguration of its first store in Europe, located in Paris, France. The latest French store is reckoned as the flagship of the company. The store is designed by famous designer Daniel Arsham of Snarkitecture. Even more interestingly the store also housed an outpost of Sadelle’s. The eatery is famous for special bagels and provides a peaceful seating place for shoppers after their spree.

The G-SHOCK GM-6900 Rainbow by KITH is one tough sports watch that is undoubtedly practical and legible. This model is also prone to have few signature styling notes that are adhered with KITH only. The KITH logo printed on a translucent resin strap gives a feel of lightness to watch and plays well with the iridescent bezel. The watch also comes with a secondary fully translucent strap, with easy-to-change method.

KITH also has been using another note on their collab watches a lot that is grooving their logo on the backlit button at the 6 o’clock. The backlit button on the G-SHOCK watches is prominent and easy to access and Casio has been engraving it with capital “G” due to its G-SHOCK range. But in the collaboration model KITH has smartly placed their company signature on the backlit button. In this model the button is finished in simple greyish metallic dark-blue shade, rather than matching the case colour in previous rose-gold finished 6900 model. The display mid bracket, the caseback, 4 pushers, the screws and including the wristband buckle all have the same distinct shade.
There is a discreet surprise that shows when the backlit button is pressed. As the dial lights up two words “Just Us” become visible and these pairs of words have appeared on numerous products including the previous rose-gold finished GM-6900 model.

The list of features offered by the GM-6900 is known and the same load of functions is packed in KITH’s rainbow timepiece. This G-SHOCK model is a full digital watch with backlit display, multifunction alarm, two years battery life, a calendar, stopwatch and more with strong 200 meter water resistance. The watch is priced for about Rs. 63K and will be available by this week.
You can visit our online store and chain of outlets in the city to buy original branded watches with warranty that come under our dealership umbrella. We sell only original watches of fashion and luxury watch brands.

An Easy Guide For Buying A Casio Watch

Considering to add a new timepiece to your watch collection? CASIO is worth every bit of it. Multipurpose, dedicated and trendy, and this Japanese brand knows how to make a price worthy yet practical timepiece. Through this friendly guide we will lead you to every crucial point you need to know before choosing a CASIO wristwatch. With an original Casio watch you can enjoy it for years to come.

We have arranged a few step wise points that will gradually guide you step by step in choosing an appropriate original Casio timepiece according to your budget and need of usage.
CASIO is a prominent brand in the world of quality watchmaking. Let us take you closer to the company’s historic efforts and pioneering efforts that made Casio what it is today.

CASIO Watches is a subsidiary of Casio Computer Co., an electronics company founded in Japan by Tadao Kashio in the early 1940s.
The Casio Computers Co. manufactures a wide range of electronic devices, including calculators, musical instruments, printers and few more. Nevertheless, it is probably best known for its watch making efficiency which has been popular since the 1970s with the launch of its first ever electronic watch named Casiotron. Later on the brand released many iconic watch ranges, including the G-Shock and Edifice models which are now famous sports watches offered by the Japanese brand.

One of the fundamental concerns when purchasing a new timepiece is your budget bracket and CASIO’s wide range of watches offers multiple options to suit most budget ranges. If you’re shopping on a sleek budget, you can buy a reliable CASIO watch for under Rs.20, 000/-. If you are in search of a more specifically functioning watch like a divers’ watch or one with GPS functionality, you can expect to pay a bit higher price. The most key thing is to find something that provides the necessary functionality you need from a watch.
CASIO was one of the first watch designers and manufacturers to use quartz movements. This continues till date, most CASIO timepieces are still majorly powered by quartz movements among all the ranges.

The Japanese brand has also introduced an innovative solar-powered quartz movement that powers some of its watches, most notably the Edifice and G-Shock series.
CASIO’s sturdy and tested solar technology lets the movement be powered not only by sunlight, but also to generate energy from any artificial light such as fluorescent lights.

Let us take you towards the range of straps offered in Casio watch ranges. CASIO watch ranges are offering following options in wristbands:
Stainless Steel Bracelets are usually made of 316L grade Stainless Steel bracelets with fold over clasps.

Buckles are also offered in traditional design with a horse-shoe buckle that slides the other strap through and a hole in the strap to your desired fit.
Cuff wristband design is a similar method as the buckle strap, but has a secondary layer sandwiched to the outer layer of the wristband.
Any given option that you choose comes down to your personal style inclination and the way you intend to use your timepiece.

Watch Movements Made Easy for You!

If explained in modest words a watch is powered by a movement but it is not as simple as it seems. A movement is actually the heart of any analogue watch, regardless to its price or brand.
There are numerous manufacturers that manufacture movements for their own watches and some not only make it for their own watch line-up but also sell to other watch makers.

A Swiss automatic watch movement is also referred as calibre which is a bit different from quartz movement. We will get into the types of and workings of the watch movements later on, let’s first comprehend the movement and its significance.
The movements can be separated by its functionality. Some watches only have time, some have time and date, some have day-date and time while some have chronograph functions in it. All the movements get complex with augmented functions it has to perform.

The renowned and widely used watch movements are Swiss or Japanese produced movements. Limited Swiss luxury watch brands use their own manufactured movements to maintain its quality, precision and exclusivity. The mass producers of Swiss watch movements are ETA, Sellita and Ronda. On the other hand Seiko and Casio mass produce quartz watch movements in Japan.
Most watch buyers get attracted by the appearance of the timepieces but few really get into the quality and precision of watch movements. As the external design is important for the watch, the internal mechanism is also equally important.

Quartz Movement is a battery powered movement that runs the clock. The first ever Quartz Movement was introduced in 1969 by Seiko, Japan. It was a revolution in the watch industry. With the introduction of quartz movement the traditional watch makers felt challenged. As the quartz movement was cheaper to produce and maintain due to less moving parts, the Swiss watch makers created their own version of quartz movement. This all together created a new era of quartz watches in the world.

Currently the mass producer of quartz movement are Seiko, Citizen and Casio, these Japanese companies also provide quartz movements to other watch manufacturers. The Swiss quartz movements are majorly produced by ETA, Sellita and Ronda
The mechanical movement is powered by a winding spring that has to be winded manually. The wearer has to wind it manually through the watch crown. The energy restored in the spring is then released to power the movement and ticking the clock.

As the matter of the fact, there is not much difference between the quartz movement and mechanical movement. Only the battery in quartz movement is replaced by spring motion. Few more springs are added to mechanical movements that maintain other clock features.
However, a mechanical movement is more of a class sentiment as it takes intense effort and quality artistry to make one mechanical movement, which also makes it expensive.
Automatic Movement as it refers is basically a self-winding mechanical movement which restores kinetic energy into the spring by the wrist motion of the wearer. The effort of manual winding is eliminated with its automatic functionality.

Among the watch collectors an automatic watch is considered of high value with definite quality. Both Swiss and Japanese movement manufacturers produce their own automatic movements.  Same as mechanical movement it is also complex in structure and an added metal weight that freely moves with wrist movement makes it interesting to see it too.

Casio G-SHOCK GSTB300S-1A The G-STEEL Watch
The Casio G-SHOCK is a brand in itself by offering totally robust and die-hard timepieces. The better as CasiOak, G-SHOCK GA-2100 is said to be claiming a big chunk out of the king’s attention, by releasing several models in the range in the last twosome years. Undoubtedly these models from G-SHOCK hold its rugged and indestructible fashion. One of these models is from the highly-famed G-STEEL range G-SHOCK GSTB300S-1A, which carries a steel case.

The G-STEEL range within the G-SHOCK is slightly priced in a comfortable zone with regards to its flagship range MT-G and MR-G. This range will not offer you gadgets as the two-sensors or GPS available in the flagship ranges or few other pricier G-SHOCKs. On the good side the G-STEEL range design is more of a grown-up analogue focused watch with G-SHOCK’s authentic tough built quality. Considering all the aspects the G-STEEL range is worth spending your money on.

Let us dive a bit deeper into the G-STEEL’s secret feature that makes it as strong as its other siblings while having a steel case. The understanding goes as G-SHOCKs are built to almost live past even the owner. These watches are made to survive any shock or thrust hitting it. Verily G-SCHOCK has maintained its core thought in its watches and this model is no exception. The durability stunt done with G-SHOCK DW5600E-1 was run by a 24.97 tonne truck and it certainly survived without even a scratch. So it’s a family characteristic for G-SHOCK watches.

The coming to the G-STEEL range that has steel cases means that any shock would be transferred to the movement with no spare. To encounter the issue G-SHOCK has designed a Carbon Core Guard. Its function is simply explained by its name that it guards something. The actual purpose is to guard the quart module that powers the G-SHOCK timepiece. The Carbon Core Guard is made up of Carbon-Fibre reinforced material. The carbon-fibre piece is designed as a mid-casing for the quartz module.  The reinforced casing works as a shock absorbent dissipates shock energy. The carbon-fibre material is degrade-resistant so the life of quartz module is unlikely to be compromised. This thoughtful method makes it true to “Absolute Toughness”.

The new addition to G-SHOCK line, GTSB300S-1A is no different from its G-STEEL family. Surely the durable construction of the timepiece is up to par. With all the apocalyptic survival quality it also has a good load functionality stored in it. One can definitely enjoy the solar powered quartz module that offers 1/1000th stopwatch, countdown timer, Bluetooth connectivity, double LED backlit dial, World Time, Neobrite clock hands, auto calendar and few more .

The Bluetooth connectivity might be hassle for some but in this it can be a breeze due to the ease of browsing through and handling multiple watch functions. The usual four buttons (two on each side of the case) are well enough to control and toggle between all the watch functions. As each button has more than one function to perform, this might be a bit hard to understand for few. Here is where Bluetooth connectivity comes in really handy. While setting the world time you have around 300 cities to choose from which can be quite easy from the application and setting alarms also get easier with it. The long list of cities has various more names than the few pre-loaded city names that are available in other watches. If depending on the quartz movement there is merely a ±15 seconds per month, otherwise you can keep the watch connected to the app and you are good to go.

The G-SHOCK range is undoubtedly indestructible but the GSTB300S-1A is an aesthetically refined timepiece that can withstand time test and also perform better tasks than ordinary expensive watches. This model is even better in some way if compared to its other G-SHOCK siblings. The watch is designed to appeal gadgetry enthusiasts that also admire sensible design language.

The GSTB300S-1A has a 51mm case raises a question whether you are going to use it as a daily wearer or dedicate it to adventure trips. It all depends on the styling you like to wish to carry along you. The design language is definitely bold and outstanding. The watch is nicknamed “CasiOak” due to its octagonal case outline. The steel case is fixed with an equally tough steel bezel having wide screws which is a definitive style appeal. The bold stance is strong and states a tough look.

Coming to dial complexity it loaded with information and famous 3D styling hooked analogue-digital hybrid G-SHOCKs. The broad brushed baton hour markers are prominent with an Arabic numeral 12 o’clock index. All the hour markers have light-reflective finish. The wide clock hands are luminous and well paired with the beefy dial design. With all the tough looks you are good to go for 200 meter of water resistance without worry.

Casio introduced Black on Black G-SHOCK Gravitymaster GA-1100-1A1 Watch

Casio has been offering a huge variety of watches that cater watch enthusiasts of any aspect. The brilliance with the Casio’s vast line-up is that you can get a decent dress watch, a sports watch, a diving watch or a pilot’s watch with full form and function.

The massive G-SHOCK range by Casio is no stranger to anyone. It has to offer a pure functional timepiece for athletes, professionals, adventure freaks, and health conscious one-offs. The Gravitymaster is the highly valued series in the G-SHOCK family. It is an aviation timepiece with pilot friendly functions.

As the Casio is widening its G-SHOCK range with aviation dedicated watches the new model addition in the Casio G-SHOCK Gravitymaster is GA-1100-1A1. This model is more of a cosmetic addition to the range rather than functional enhancement. There are already two models available in the GA-1100 series, a GA-1100-2B with blue bezel and dial markings, and a GA-1100-9G with golden bezel and dial markings.

The new edition G-SHOCK GA-1100-1A1 is a full “Black on Black” colour theme to spice up the model range. Now it has a total of three colour variants. There are several options in the Gravitymaster series that can have a hefty price tag close to Rs. 150K. The model with Bluetooth connectivity is stated as the flagship model in the range.

The Casio G-SHOCK Gravitymaster GA-1100-1A1 is a more reasonable approach towards a practical timepiece within Rs. 45K. This model is a worthy upgrade to jump into G-SHOCK range for any Casio enthusiast.
The dial case is enormous with its 52.1mm size, with a similar appearance to other Gravitymaster series models. The most appreciable thing about G-SHOCK is that even with a huge dial size, the designers have done a great job of combining multiple features into a confined space and on top of that making it wearable without any hassle. Many G-SHOCK owners love to use their watches as daily wearers.

Crossing the 50mm mark in dial size is a really tricky thing for watch designers but remarkably Casio has mastered it and has made numerous models with +50mm sized dials in G-SHOCK range. The multifunction G-SHOCK GA-1100-1A1 is in the same size category but when worn feels light and smaller in appearance. Especially, the “Black on Black” colour theme has done the trickery to visually make it appear sensible in size.
The case is made up of Casio’s usual resin and steel combination with a mere thickness of 16.9mm, whereas the wristband is pure resin made in full black. With respect to the features and display complexity, the thickness is at pretty sleek measurements. The watch is good for 200meters of water resistance and the case also houses the two-sensors that take measurements for temperature and compass. The sensor placed at the 9 o’clock side is for compass readings whereas the sensor at the 3 o’clock is for temperature measurements. The pushers are placed as two on each side that toggle between and control all the functions in the watch.

The G-SHOCK GA-1100-1A1 is a dedicated pilots’ watch with an analogue-digital hybrid dial mechanism. The standard time is displayed by analogue watch hands whereas the other information is displayed by the digital display at 3 o’clock. The sub-dial at 9 o’clock is dedicated to show the second time zone selected by the wearer. The sub-dial at the 6 o’clock shows different functional modes, the watch is presently at. The dual-time function and the world time is the most useful feature for the pilots during their traveling. The watch has a 1/100th second stopwatch, 24-hrs format, five alarms option and a countdown timer.
The multi-colour accents in white, blue and red contrast are well mated with blacked out dial. Only the twelve hour marker is denoted in Arabic numeral while the other indices are shown in baton style. The sub-dial at 9 o’clock also has Arabic numerals as indexes. The prominent luminous clock-hands suit the all-black dial which also makes it easy to watch time in a quick glimpse.

The Casio’s Gravitymaster series is definitely tempting as a practical watch for outdoor activities with all the dual-time zone, world and stopwatch functions. Even with all the functionality, it also depends on one’s aesthetic choice. Some might feel that the vibrant colour scheme is not a go-to for. While the full-blacked out variant appears to be subtle and functional all in the same time.
In my opinion the lack of Bluetooth connectivity might be a drawback for few but with all the modern trickery and state of the art tech it is a really worthy timepiece with a price tag of just around Rs. 55K.
